STAY Project Kicks Off in Reykjavik, Iceland

In February 2026, the STAY project – Skills for Thriving, Agency and Youth Engagement officially launched with a two-day kickoff meeting in Reykjavik, Iceland. Hosted by the project’s lead partner, the meeting brought together the full consortium to align on goals, timelines, and responsibilities ahead of the implementation phase.

Setting the foundation

The first day focused on project governance: online coordination structures, risk and quality management plans, financial reporting procedures, and other administrative foundations that keep a partnership running smoothly. From there, the group moved into the substance of the project a deep dive into the STAY Handbook, the Engagement and Quiet Quitting Risk Scanner, and the planned workshops with quiet quitters.

Moving into action

Day two shifted toward impact and outreach. Partners mapped out the dissemination strategy, developed the STAY engagement campaign concept, and planned the upcoming youth worker workshops in Spain. The meeting closed with a confirmation of signed attendance sheets and the next milestones on the project timeline.

Why STAY matters

Quiet quitting among young people is not just a workplace trend it reflects a deeper disconnect between young people and the environments they move through. STAY is built on the belief that thriving, agency, and genuine engagement can be developed. This kickoff was the first step in making that happen.
